At Richard Lawson Pianos, we are pleased to supply our customers with Kawai pianos, and today we are shining the spotlight on two of our Kawai upright pianos. These include the K600 and the K500 ATX2. Here, we will cover some of their great features and what you can expect for each piano.
Similarities
- Action
Both the K600 and K500 ATX2 feature Millennium III Upright Action with ABS Carbon composites. This uses a special kind of science, resulting in lighter action parts, yet still ensuring its durability. Furthermore, the key repetition and response speed is optimised.
- Softness
Both pianos here make use of Softfall, not only protects your hands, but also prevents any harm when closing the piano. The softness extends to the mechanisms within the piano, meaning it is ideal for repetition of the same key, as well as pieces with pianissimo. The use of an IHSS sensor system in the K500 ATX2 enables you to play using the softest key strokes. IHSS stands for ‘Integrated Hammer Sensing System’, which translates the nuances of each note. With the K600, the hammers are double felted with a mahogany core, with aluminium action brackets which are die-cast in order to add strength and accuracy when playing.
- Additional Features
Both models also feature Neotex key surfaces, lock features, double casters, and a full duplex scale of both upper and lower keys. They also both feature agraffes, which are clasps that hook onto a ring, ensuring that any unwanted vibration is limited.
Differences
- Height
Whilst the K600 stands at 132 cm, the K500 ATX2 stands slightly smaller at just 130cm.
- Back Post
The K600 has a back post of six, whilst the K500 ATX2 has a back post of 5, yet this provides both with the necessary resonance and stability.
- Additional Features
The K500 ATX2 has a long list of additional features when compared with its K600 counterpart. The main difference between the two is the fact that the K500 ATX2 is a hybrid piano, including acoustic muting features with its digital audio elements, so you can play to your heart’s content without disturbance. These features include an LCD display, an inbuilt metronome, optical sensors, USB connections to a device of your choice, and MP3 and WAV capabilities.
