Here at Richard Lawson Pianos, we not only supply pianos for you to play, but we also offer a selection of wonderful piano stools to complement your piano purchase. Today we’re going to go over some of the key designs when it comes to finding the right piano stool for you.
Why Are Piano Stools Important?
When it comes to playing the piano, seating is often overlooked. However, the importance of a good piano stool is paramount when it comes to perfecting your technique as a pianist. The smallest of details can impact on your playing, so finding the perfect piano bench can be a challenge.
Duet Benches
The duet benches are the most common type of piano stool. The name is due to the fact that two people can sit next to each other on them comfortably. This is not only great for playing duets on the piano, but also comes in handy when young people are learning the piano as the students’ teacher or parent can sit next to them and guide them as they practice. They usually open up on the top, allowing for music to go inside.
Adjustable Artist Bench
The adjustable artist bench, also known as a ‘tabouret’ is a great choice for those players at a more advance level. These models tend to be more comfortable, allowing you to adjust the height and find the perfect position to play. Being seated at the correct height can improve your piano playing dramatically.
The Piano Chair
Unlike the previous examples, the piano chair has a backrest. Although it may seem like any other chair, they are actually subtly crafted to help you feel more comfortable whilst playing. They are slanted forward slightly, and the support for your back means that it is less tiring, allowing you to lean into the keyboard more naturally.
The Double-Wide Artist Bench
Finally, a cross between the duet bench and the artist bench is the double-wide artist bench. This means they have the great length of the duet bench, and the comfort and quality of the artist bench, with these being fully adjustable too. Some models even offer the option to adjust the height separately for the left and the right side, so each of the players has optimum comfort.
