Detailed Description
This Schimmel 112 Empire Upright Piano was built in the early 1990’s in Braunschweig, Germany, and is most notable for its beautiful and striking casework. The cabinet as a whole is finished in Light Oak Polyester, with Burr Walnut inlays on the upper and lower front boards, as well as brass detailing above the legs and underneath the keybed. It also boasts fluted, squared legs, as well as matching fluting either side of the upper board.
Having been built in Germany, the internal part quality and level of craftsmanship matches that of the cabinetry. In spite of the piano’s compact size, therefore, it is a really quite powerful instrument, with a wide dynamic range and broad range of colours. The bass has real depth, and the middle section sings very clearly and beautifully, whilst the treble section is brilliant and projected. The sound can be opened up even more effectively with the piano’s grand opening lid at the top, which is a rare feature in uprights generally.
Overall, it is a highly versatile instrument suitable for students and professionals. It has been maintained and tuned to the highest standards, and will give many more decades of good service in the future.
