Detailed Description
This Yamaha G2 Grand was built in the mid-1980’s during Yamaha’s Golden Age of piano building, when all of the manufacturing took place in Japan, and by the very best craftsmen. The materials used were of the highest quality, and so the pianos from this era are famed for being highly durable, retaining their quality for many decades.
Being a large baby grand (5’6” in length), the G2 is both compact enough to be accommodated in most domestic settings, but also benefits from longer strings and a larger soundboard than would be found in smaller grands. It therefore has a very full and rich sound in the bass and middle sections, as well as a beautiful singing tone in the treble area. The action is nicely balanced with a medium-heavy touch.
Overall, it is a highly versatile instrument suitable for students and professionals. It has been maintained and tuned to the highest standards, and will give many more decades of good service in the future. The striking cabinet is in overall excellent condition.
