Detailed Description
This Yamaha U3 was built during Yamaha’s Golden Age of piano building, when all of the manufacturing took place in Japan, and by the very best craftsmen. The materials used were of the highest quality, and so the pianos from this era are famed for being highly durable, retaining their quality for many decades.
Being their tallest model, it has a real richness to the bass, an open singing sound in the middle section, and a clear brilliance in the treble. The action is medium heavy, and so offers a lot of control for all playing types.
The retrofitted Technics Silent System allows the player to practice through headphones whilst retaining the piano’s normal hammer action. The control unit is discreetly placed underneath the keyboard.
Overall, it is a highly versatile instrument suitable for students and professionals. It has been maintained and tuned to the highest standards, and will give many more decades of good service in the future. The cabinet is in overall very good condition, for its age, and has a reinforced top lid, which reduces the likelihood of damage to this area.
