Detailed Description
This Yamaha UX3 was built in the late 1980’s, during Yamaha’s Golden Age of piano building, when all of the manufacturing took place in Japan, and by the very best craftsmen. The materials used were of the highest quality, and so the pianos from this era are famed for being highly durable, retaining their quality for many decades.
This is Yamaha’s tallest model, and it has a strong, open, and colourful sound across its range, which is further supported by its cross-braced frame. This is a feature that is no longer available with new Yamahas due to its being so expensive to manufacture, and it really aids the piano’s sustaining power.
The sound-release front panel opens up the sound even further, giving the whole instrument a very wide expressive range. The cabinet – which is in excellent condition throughout – is further distinguished by a reinforced top lid that reduces the likelihood of damage to this area.
The action is light and quick, with good, balanced weighting that makes all passage work really smooth and easy.
Overall, it is a highly versatile instrument suitable for students and professionals. It has been maintained and tuned to the highest standards, and will give many more decades of good service in the future.
