What is a TransAcoustic piano?

TransAcoustic is the name bestowed on Yamaha’s latest innovation in pianos.

With the ability to turn its soundboard into a loudspeaker, it’s hard to categorise the TransAcoustic. It’s simplest to think of it as a hybrid – but whether it’s an acoustic piano with built-in volume control or a digital piano with strings is hard to define.

In truth, that doesn’t really matter. What is of concern, is the quality of its sound and its musical capabilities. Both of which are hugely impressive.

What is an Aures piano?

Working in much the same way as the TransAcoustic, Aures are Kawai’s equivalent offering.

Equipped with a resonance system, the soundboard of the Aures allows them to play digital audio – such as other instruments or backing music – without the need for additional speakers.

The sound emanates entirely from the soundboard. Which, thanks to the harmonic properties of its solid spruce frame, produces a rich and powerful sound.

Why choose a TransAcoustic or Aures piano?

Unsure whether to settle on the failsafe of a traditional acoustic piano or opt for a more modern alternative with a digital instrument? Why agonise over the right choice? Get the best of both worlds with a TransAcoustic or Aures piano.

Both offer everything expected from manufacturers of this calibre, with the added bonus of digital capabilities. As a fully strung ‘real’ piano you can still enjoy all the sympathetic vibrations and musical expression offered from an acoustic piano combined with:

  • The convenience of volume control
  • The ability to select and combine sounds
  • The option to play pre-recorded accompaniments as you perform

And that’s only the beginning…
