Our last blog explored the brilliance of the Yamaha Disklavier, a range of acoustic reproductive pianos available in upright piano and baby grand form. Equipped with electronic sensors and electromechnical solenoids, Disklavier pianos are able to natively record and play piano performances, making them ideal for music education.
The most recent generation of the Disklavier is the Enspire, the seventh generation of Disklavier products that was introduced in January 2016. But what new features does the Enspire boast and how do they distinguish it from older generations? In our second blog on the Disklavier we will explore the Enspire and its excellent features.
What is the Enspire?
The Yamaha Disklavier Enspire is the latest generation of Disklavier pianos. The Enspire is available in a range of 14 models ranging from 48” upright pianos to a 9” baby concert grand and comes in three types: CL, ST and PRO.
The three variations of the Enspire differ slightly: the CL follows a ‘playback only’ model, omitting the recording feature in other Disklaviers, while all three of them provide silent system functionality which means that no acoustic sound is produced. Currently the CL type Enspire is only offered in Yamaha’s GB1K, its entry-level grand piano, and is only sold in certain areas.
There are several elements to the Disklavier Enspire that add to its appeal over previous Disklavier generations. Here are three particularly striking features:
Included wi-fi adaptor
The Enspire benefits from its feature of a USB wi-fi adaptor. This allows it to connect easily with wireless networks and compatible with tables, smartphones and computers. Disposing with the control box of older generations, the Enspire is also blessed with an intuitive app which allows the disklavier Enspire to be controlled by Apple and Android devices as well as PC and Macs.
500 built-in songs
The Enspire’s easy-to-use user interface allows pianists to gain direct access to 500 songs built into the instrument, accompanied by audio and vocals. These songs cross a wide variety of genres, ranging from classical concerto pieces to modern jazz and pop songs, thereby encouraging pianists to enjoy whichever style they most feel like at the time, whether it’s Chopin or Coldplay.
If all these songs aren’t enough, owners can download thousands of additional performances directly to the Enspire via the Yamaha MusicSoft online store.
Streaming radio and TV services
The Enspire’s streaming radio and TV services encourage pianists to discover and enjoy thousands of piano performances. Yamaha Piano Radio gives pianists instant access to 24-hour streaming piano music across over 30 channels.
