How does a TransAcoustic piano work?

Yamaha’s TransAcoustic technology is founded on the essential mechanism of resonating sounds. Put simply, by connecting transducers to the piano’s wooden soundboard, it transforms the soundboard of the TransAcoustic piano into an in-built loudspeaker.

In reality though, it goes so much further than this, expanding the capabilities of acoustic pianos. Want to perform over an audio file? No problem. Relax while your piano acts as a speaker? You can do that too – connecting to your piano through your digital devices from the comfort of your own settee. You can even put on your headphones and switch into silent mode – perfect for ‘out of hours’ playing and when you need to keep disturbances to a minimum.

Why choose a Yamaha TransAcoustic piano?

Unsure how you feel about a digital piano but keen to make the most of modern technology and the convenience of volume control? Then a Yamaha TransAcoustic is the perfect pick for you.

Not only can you adjust volume levels, but you can do so without sacrificing the sound quality – meaning you can enjoy authentic acoustics at any time and match your sound levels to suit your audience and surroundings. Since the hammers are still moving when you play, you’re also retaining the highly responsive touch of the piano’s action.

The very latest models will even let you select your piano’s ‘voice’ – choose from two world-renowned concert grand pianos (the Yamaha CFX and the Bösendorfer Imperial), electric pianos, harpsichords, organs, and many more.
